Overview

Modernized internal data workflows by analyzing existing Microsoft Access and Excel processes, identifying business needs, and contributing to the design of a more structured and reliable relational database system.

Context

This internship allowed me to understand how data is used in a real company environment, especially for reporting, internal organization, and operational follow-up. I worked on improving legacy workflows by studying how employees used existing tools, documenting their needs, and proposing a database structure better aligned with the company’s processes.

Responsibilities

Captured user needs by analyzing existing workflows and internal data usage.
Documented legacy processes based on Microsoft Access databases and Excel files.
Audited existing data structures to identify limitations, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
Designed a relational schema aligned with business rules, reporting constraints, and future maintainability.
Migrated and reorganized data while applying integrity checks to improve reliability.
Supported adoption by making the new database structure easier to understand and use for non-technical users.

What I learned

Through this experience, I strengthened my skills in SQL, Microsoft Access, Excel, data modeling, and business analysis. It also helped me develop a more practical mindset: understanding the user’s problem first, then designing a technical solution that is clear, maintainable, and useful for the company.
